A Colorful Arrival

Color defeats the very lifestyle I am desperately attempting to uphold. It overruns the little bit of control I have. It ruins my meager attempts to simplify, organize, and minimize. It utterly demolishes clarity. Yet, I crave its manic brilliance. I thirst for the happiness it induces, as evidenced by the emotional relief spring foliage gives from the bleak landscape of winter.Color has invoked a mutiny and I find myself subject to its will.
Really lovely piece though I think that having the opportunity to work on it in the studio a little has helped me love it more. It was interesting to see you going through that.
I said before that I didn’t like the black but I should clarify. I do like the black because it makes me feel uncomfortable. The black was unexpected I guess.
this reminds of a drawing by antony hegarty on that blog you linked me to (but does it float): blue background and black lines. near the end of my senior year, i drew a picture on tan paper composed of short marks done in pencil. overall, it gave the impression of a piece of land seen from above. this makes me think of that, too.
instead of seeing geography here, though, i see some amoeba-like, replicating organism. i agree with the person above that the black disrupts what might otherwise be too expected of a color combination.
